The 1996 Olympics in Atlanta provided the first big opportunity for the mobile billboards. "They couldn't get any
billboards in Atlanta, they were all sold out," he [founder] said.
Agfa, the international maker of film and other imaging products, hired the trucks to parade before the Olympic crowds.
Unlike billboards, the trucks can be routed and their timing can be planned for precision targeting of a key audience.
For example, when Warner Brothers wanted to promote new albums by Bette Midler and Cher, it sent the trucks to carry

USA Today hired Wheels America trucks to promote its Baseball Weekly at the July 13 All Star game in Boston.
PC Magazine hired them to parade its billboards around a computer trade show in Las Vegas.
Strzeletz said advertisers can hire the trucks for rates starting about $500 for a 10-hour day,

a fullpage ad in a major newspaper.
