- Not Enough Color Contrast on Your Billboard Ad
Red text on black or blue backgrounds look great in print ads, but they are not enough contrast for a
billboard ad. Yellow text on a white billboard, or vice verse, are also not enough contrast for a billboard.
For billboard advertising, go for the highest color contrast. Red, black or other dark colors work great on
a white billboard. White, yellow or very light colors work best on a black or dark colored billboard.
- Billboard Text Too Small.
Think big! Use 8-10 words or less per billboard. Never use more than 3 or four lines of text on your billboard.
- Hard to Read Fonts/Lettering
Save the fancy script fonts. Ignore the skinny fonts. Go for big bold lettering that has impact. It's easiest
to read when people see your billboard at a distance or from an odd angle.
